Special Monday Report

From Bonneville Research June 26, 2009

Greetings!

Because my daughter traveled to Mexico earlier this month I signed up for an email update from the US Government Center for Disease Control (CDC).

The following information came last night from the CDC and I was startled to see that Utah and Texas had the same number of H1N1 Flu deaths.

This morning I ran some numbers and was surprised with the following findings and questions:

Utah has the highest number of deaths per million capita - 3.65, more that twice that of New York with 1.80.

Why?

Is Utah better at reporting?
Is it because we gather in community groups more?
Is it because we are a younger population?
High altitude?
Mostly Northern European genes?

Utah has the second highest number of "Confirmed and Probable Cases" per million capita - 319.39, but Wisconsin is more that twice that of Utah with 759.24.

Why?
